No Drilling for Early Stage Cavities and White Spots Modern Technology and new materials have given us a new way to treat these early stage cavities. Early stage cavities on the smooth surfaces of front teeth are ususally detected visually. They often appear as chalky, white spots that may appear after orthodontic treatment. The treatment is a gentle and painless gel which is applied to the tooth and then the tooth is restored with a tooth- colored material which allows the tooth to take on the appearance of the surrounding healthy enamel. Early stage cavities between the teeth are often detected through the use of x-rays. These teeth will be gently separated and prepared with the gel. We will then use an ultra-thin applicator to fill the early cavity with the tooth-colored filling material. All this accomplished without the use of an anesthetic or drilling on these types of early stage cavities. |
